Language Link Translation Bureau provides interpreters for sequential interpretation at various events: presentations, exhibitions, training etc.

We have experienced highly qualified interpreters on our staff who are able to provide quality sequential interpretation for the most important and prestigious events. For example, our specialists have taken part in events for the European Commission (Brussels) organised by TAIEX.

It should be mentioned that many of our orders for sequential interpretation come from long-standing clients: companies, notaries and individual entrepreneurs for whom we also regularly carry out written translations. During our extensive collaboration we have become well-acquainted with the specifics of their work, professional terminology and requirements which allow us to better represent the interests of our clients.

The prices for sequential interpretation services listed in the price-list are basic rates. The minimum order for sequential interpretation services is two hours. The cost of services may vary subject to the duration and complexity of the interpretation.

We request that our clients place their order for sequential interpretation services well in advance. The more time between the order being placed and the event itself, the more time our interpreters have to familiarise themselves with the subject matter and if possible with any other available material and this will mean that their interpretation will be to the highest possible standard. Unfortunately, if booking is left till the last minute, there may be no interpreters available. Furthermore our Translation Bureau reserves the right to charge a higher price for an urgent order at short notice.

When ordering interpretation services it is worth understanding the difference between sequential and simultaneous interpretation.

Sequential interpretation is required for events where there are only a small number of participants and interpretation is only necessary into one foreign language. In this case:

• the speaker allows pauses in order for the interpreter to translate everything that he/she has said;
• consequently the duration of the event is doubled and this needs to be taken into account by the event organisers;
• specialised equipment is not required;
• the cost is approximately 5 times lower than the cost of simultaneous interpretation;

A sequential interpreter does not necessarily have the skills required for simultaneous interpretation as well (though it goes without saying that he/she must be competent, professional and prepared for the task.)

Simultaneous interpretation is necessary for 1) large-scale international meetings, conferences etc. where interpreting into multiple languages simultaneously is required and in this case, several pairs of interpreters will be working; 2) events during which the interpreter speaks directly into the participant’s ear (whisper-interpreting.) In this case:

• interpretation happens at almost exactly the same time as the main speech;
• the room is fitted out with specialised equipment (see the Simultaneous Interpretation section;)
• the service is more expensive compared to sequential interpretation;
